yolk is a fixed-supply SPL token on Solana, launched on pump.fun. One billion units were minted once; the mint authority is gone and nothing can print more. There is no admin, no fee switch, no freeze, no upgrade.
The incubator is not a second program. It is the token's own tape. Every trade the chain records is the only input the egg will ever accept. Anyone replaying that tape with the closed forms on this page arrives at the same egg, to the same digit.
Every trade injects heat proportional to the fraction of total supply it moved: moving one percent of supply warms the egg by 0.42 °C, and no single minute may inject more than 1.5 °C regardless of volume. Heat does not care about price, direction or intent. A buy, a sell and a wallet reshuffle are all the same to an egg: warmth.
The cap matters. Warmth has to arrive as circulation over hours and days, the way a hen arrives every day. A single enormous trade cannot cook twenty days of development into one minute.
Between trades the egg cools toward ambient by Newton's law, with a half-life of six hours. Only two numbers are kept: the temperature at the last touch and the time it happened. Everything in between is evaluated exactly, in closed form, on the next touch. Nothing runs while the market sleeps. The cooling happened anyway.
Six hours is a deliberate cruelty. Left alone overnight, a warm egg gives back most of what the day put in.
Development is not price and it is not volume. It is degree-hours: the integral of temperature above the 36.0 °C floor, accumulated only while the egg is warm enough to matter and capped by a ceiling at 39.5 °C beyond which warmth becomes damage. At the set point of 37.8 °C the clock gains 1.8 degree-hours per hour, and the requirement of 900 degree-hours equals five hundred unbroken hours in band: about twenty-one days, same as a hen's.
Time above the ceiling is integrated by the same method and remembered forever. Every degree-hour of scorch raises the total requirement by 2.5 degree-hours. An egg that is boiled does not die here; it simply owes more, permanently, and the record shows exactly when and how it was burned.
A real egg must be turned or the embryo adheres to the shell wall. Here, anyone may turn it at most once every ninety minutes by signing a small transaction to the incubator. If the egg ever goes more than eight hours unturned, each full hour past the limit accrues one adhesion point, and adhesion is permanent: every point drags the clock by 25 basis points for the rest of the egg's life. Turning costs nothing but a network fee; the roll keeps the full list of everyone who kept the egg alive.
Yolks are laid down in concentric daily rings, dark where the day fed well, light where it did not. Every 24 hours from the first trade a ring is sealed from that day's tape: windows, volume, heat, peak temperature, degree-hours gained and turns. Rings are never rewritten; the candling page draws the egg's cross-section from them.
As an egg ages moisture leaves through the shell and the air cell at the blunt end grows: 0.030 a day, three times as fast in cold hours. Its size sets the candling grade: AA, then A, then B. The grade changes nothing mechanical. It is the egg's face, recorded at every ring, and it does not improve.
Hatching is not automatic and cannot be done alone. When the clock reaches ninety percent the shell is given an integrity of 1,000 and pip opens. A pip burns tokens (at least 1,000) and lands in one of twenty-four fixed sectors of the shell's circumference, derived from the caller's address. Pips only score in clockwise order, sector by sector, because a chick zips a full rotation before it breaks out; a pip in the wrong sector still burns and is remembered as a mis-pip. Scored weight is the square root of the burn, so a hundred small holders chip harder than one whale.
When all twenty-four sectors have scored and the weight meets integrity, the egg hatches. Every crossing before it, every scorch, every adhesion point, is permanent.
A caller's sector is sha256 of their address, modulo twenty-four, fixed for life. The zip starts wherever the first pip scores and advances clockwise one sector at a time, so the circle closes only through twenty-four different residues. Left to strangers, coverage takes about ninety-one distinct callers; a coordinated flock that checks residues first can do it with exactly twenty-four.
Before the first trade every instrument on this page reads the egg as it is laid: 21.0 °C, zero degree-hours against nine hundred, stage laid, zero turns, zero adhesion, an air cell of zero and a grade of AA. Nothing here is a placeholder. It is the exact state the tape implies before it has anything on it.
AA below 4.5, A below 9.0, B at 9.0 and beyond. The air cell only grows, 0.030 a day and three times that during cold hours, so the grade is a one-way record of how often the egg was left in a cold room.
There is no admin, no oracle, no keeper, no pause, no blacklist, no upgrade path and no market price anywhere in the egg's math. The egg never reads the price. The only thing it has ever been told is that the token moved, and the only thing it will ever say back is how warm that kept it.
Two values define it: the temperature at the last touch and the time of that touch. Everything else is derived. Ambient is 21.0 °C.
Heat added is linear in the fraction of supply moved: 42.0 °C per full supply, capped at 1.5 °C per minute. Excess above the cap is lost, not queued.
Excess warmth over ambient halves every six hours. After 30 minutes about 94% remains; after six hours, half.
Floor 36.0 °C, where development stops. Ceiling 39.5 °C, where heat turns to damage. The viable band is 3.5 °C wide. From the set point of 37.8 °C, silence drops the egg below the floor in 59 min.
Steady churn holds a steady temperature: heat in equals heat lost. Drag the slider to see what share of supply has to move each hour to keep the egg in band.
Degree-hours accumulate as the integral of (T − 36.0) while T is inside the band. Adhesion permanently slows the rate by a factor of 10000 / (10000 + 25a).

The token is minted once on pump.fun with a fixed supply of one billion and no mint authority. The thermal pair is set to ambient at the first trade. There is no initialisation step and no admin.
Runs before anything else is applied. It evaluates the cooling curve since the last touch in closed form, finds the floor crossing if there was one, integrates degree-hours and scorch up to now, applies adhesion drag, books overdue adhesion, advances the air cell and checks stage boundaries. It is the only place the clock moves.
After settlement, each trade adds 42.0 × amount / supply, capped at 1.5 °C per minute. It never blocks a trade, never charges a fee and never reads the market.
A turn is a transaction signed by anyone that carries the memo yolk:turn and touches the incubator address. A turn counts if at least 5,400 s have passed since the last counted turn; otherwise it is recorded as too soon and changes nothing.
At each epoch boundary the day is sealed into the next ring: windows, volume, heat in, peak temperature, degree-hours gained, turns, tone and grade. Rings are append-only; they are derived from the tape, so nobody needs to call anything.
A pip burns at least 1,000 $YOLK in a transaction that carries the memo yolk:pip and touches the incubator. The caller's sector is sha256(address) mod 24. If it is the next sector clockwise, the pip scores floor(√burn) against the shell; otherwise it is a mis-pip: the burn stands, the shell does not move.
When every sector has scored and the cumulative weight meets integrity, the egg is hatched. The stage is terminal and pips close. Trades, heat and rings continue unchanged.

With E₀ = T₀ − 21.0 and floor excess F = 15.0, the egg crosses the floor at
Below the floor the integrand is negative and is not counted. Above the ceiling the excess is scorch, not development.
Splitting a burn across pips never scores less and usually scores more. Because every address is pinned to one sector, splitting across addresses only helps if those addresses land in the right residues.
Gallus incubation set point 37.8 °C, floor 36 °C. 900 degree-hours above the floor at the set point is 500 hours, about 21 days. Commercial incubators turn eggs on 90-minute cycles; that is where turn's gap comes from.
The egg is computed from the tape in 5-minute windows (volume ÷ price per window), so per-trade heat is folded into its window and the 1.5 °C cap applies per minute of window. Turns and pips are read from transactions that touch the incubator address and carry the memos yolk:turn and yolk:pip; pip burns are read from the same transaction.
